Our People

    Shauna MacDonald

    Principal & Founder

Fearless leader, client counselor, urban rapper

When Shauna announced she was opening her own firm, the constant response was "It's about time!"

Getting her start in PR with a Boston-based public relations and strategic communication agency, Shauna provided strategic public relations expertise to companies of all sizes throughout New England, the U.S. and the world. For five years, prior to starting Brookline, Shauna was Vice President and Managing Director of Western Canada for an international public relations firm, as well as the Marketing Communications Practice Leader for its Canadian operations.

Shauna obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and a Master’s degree in Communications from Boston University. She also holds an Executive MBA Certificate from Babson College and is a current Board Member with Tourism Calgary. Her extensive experience in both Canadian and U.S. markets has helped various companies from start-up to established, gain and sustain market leader positions.

If Shauna was not in public relations she would be a rock star. Her love for the stage makes her a dynamo in new business meetings and a networking pro.

One of her most memorable moments was making a major presentation to the Board of one of Canada’s most recognized and coveted brands. She had decided to wear a new power suit and had just purchased a new pair of Jimmy Choos. However, the heel broke on the way to the meeting but she had a pair of flip flops in her vehicle. Flip flops or broken heel? Needless to say, the Board had a few laughs about her “beach” attire and we secured the business.

    Shama Walji

    Office Manager & Executive Assistant

Inner hippy, administrative enthusiast, adventure seeker

A born Calgarian, Shama has had the opportunity to harness her administrative capabilities through assisting local start-ups with marketing campaigns as well as owning the title of Office Manager for a professional services firm. Coupled with her desire to be helpful, Shama loves all things creative and takes pride in her organizational capabilities while being a resourceful team player.

While effectively executing administrative deliverables and accurately managing Brookline’s day-to-day activities, Shama strives to support Brookline’s team with any task. No request is too large or too small. Whether it’s accounting, marketing, team support or a good laugh, Shama is your main point of contact and Brookline is her main client.

A Yoga instructor by trade, Shama can be found on her yoga mat during her downtime or enjoying comfort food with family and friends. Shama is excited about her future at Brookline.

Her most memorable moment at Brookline was when Shauna MacDonald decided to surprise and delight the whole team with a super duper fun day in Las Vegas!

    Senior Account Manager

Broad-minded, socially savvy, try everything once gal

As a born and raised Calgarian, Amanda brings along her endless love and expertise of the city she has forever called home. After putting her dreams of being Cinderella on hold, she channeled her passion for writing and storytelling and was introduced to Public Relations, where the shoe did in fact “fit” after all. Spending several rewarding years in non-profit, Amanda eventually moved on to the agency world and hasn’t looked back since.

Graduating from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Communication – Public Relations, Amanda has taken her theoretical and applied knowledge with her into several areas of communications. Prior to joining Brookline, she worked with many prominent consumer, lifestyle and technology brands supporting with media relations, event planning, product launches, brand repositioning and specializing in unique strategies and techniques for the buzzword of the year: “disruption.” To compliment these skills, Brookline’s robust client roster is expanding Amanda’s experience to the municipal development, hospitality and tourism sector.

Amanda believes in the continuous pursuit of personal and professional development - always trying to do better and be better. Thriving on the fast-paced environment of agency, Amanda flourishes in the ever-changing landscape of client work. She takes a different approach on the weekends where you can find her leisurely exploring Calgary’s backyard: in the mountains and her head in the clouds.

Her most memorable moment started right from the beginning - getting to meet the team over dinner and drinks (it beats meeting the team formally at the office any day).

Tea connoisseur, karaoke enthusiast, ambitious story-teller

From a small town in Wales, U.K. to big city atmosphere of Calgary, Ottilie’s experience with diverse cultures helped shaped her love of storytelling and passion for community investment.
